What may and may not be published here

Muniment hosts documentation. This page says what that covers and what it does not.

Report something

Write to abuse@muniment.xyz.

You do not need an account and you do not need to sign in. Tell us the address of the page and what is wrong with it. A person reads every one of these.

We answer within two working days. If something is clearly illegal or is putting somebody in danger, we act as soon as we see it.

What is fine

  • Product and internal documentation, guides, references, notes, policies, changelogs.
  • Anything your team needs to write down and other people need to read.

What is not

  • Anything illegal where you are or where we operate.
  • Material that sexualises children. We report this to the authorities.
  • Threats, harassment, or content that encourages violence against people.
  • Malware, or instructions whose purpose is to break into systems that are not yours.
  • Pretending to be somebody else — another company, another product, a person.
  • Phishing: pages built to collect passwords, card numbers or other credentials.
  • Somebody else's work, published without their permission.
  • Bulk private information about people who did not agree to it being published.
  • Using this as general web hosting. It is a documentation product; a site that is

really a file host, a link farm or a redirect service is not what it is for.

Your own address

If you publish on your own web address, you are responsible for what is on it. The rules above still apply, and so do the rules of whoever sold you the domain.

What we do about it

In order, and we take the smallest step that fixes it:

  1. We write to the site owner and say what has to change and by when.
  2. We stop the site being served if it is not fixed, or straight away if the harm is serious. Readers see a plain notice. Nothing is deleted and the owner can still download everything.
  3. We close the account for repeated or deliberate abuse.

We tell the owner what happened and why, every time, unless the law stops us. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that message and a person will look again.

Automated requests

Reading published pages is fine, including by machines. Do not hammer them: a crawler should stay under one request a second per site and should honour robots.txt.

Changes to this page

If we change something that matters, we will write to account holders before it takes effect.
